Wondercab Launch Party
Thanks everyone for coming out to the Reaper Madness release party + New York Games Week kickoff event! We had a great time and were thrilled to meet the 100+ people that came out to celebrate. Huge thanks to Wonderville for hosting and supporting our journey with Reaper Madness, and we were especially excited to partner with IGDA, New York Games Week, and the New York Office of Media and Entertainment to put on this event.
The night opened up with an incredible vinyl set by Max Kulchinsky who was spinning up jazzy funk and hip-hop tunes, getting us all ready for the first ever Reaper Madness tournament.
Signups for the tournament ended up with over 30 participants!! (Thanks to everyone who came out to compete!) The top two players of each four-player game proceeded to the next round. Round one brought the pool of entrants down to 16 over the course of 8 games. Round two eliminated eight more, and round three narrowed it down to the final four players.
For the final few games, Ori and Itai performed live soundtracking to hype up the crowd and finalists until we were down to two players, Kris and Wren. They fought an epic battle with Kris ultimately coming out on top to be the first ever Reaper Madness champion, winning a handmade knit plushie crafted by Sarika Tatineni.
The night was closed out with a mesmerizing live set by 8-Bit Vader (Victor Solano), who was cooking up sick beats with a modded GameBoy overlayed with flute and electronics.
Thanks again to Wonderville and everyone who came out to celebrate, compete, and support the release of Reaper Madness! Stay tuned for more news coming from Irreparable Games!
